Premiere Pro 2.0 + DVStorm2
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any news on whether Canopus will be supporting the DVStorm2 under Premiere Pro 2.0. I haven't been able to find anything on the Canopus site as yet ...... Thanks, Matthew. |

most likely they'll release some drivers, but to be honest, the Storm hit its peak with prem6.5, win2k, and an nvidia gfx card.. so i wouldnt hold my breath.
One thing about Canopus is that theyre putting ALL their efforts into Edius.. as for PremPro1 and XP, most of the DVStorm functions got killed off, being DVCapture and StormFX. Some people have had luck in gettin these to work, but im yet to se a stable working PP1.5/Storm system on XP that does everythign the Storm can do prem 6.5 in win2k |

I think it is most unlikely as the Storm is a discontinued product. Also bear in mind that Canopus has just been acquired by Grass Valley Thomson making it even less likely. It might work OK, but do not expect support except that provided by other users on the forum.

Also understand thatsome of the blame is on Adobe. They seem to have taken a software only stance, relying on having a very fast pc to stay in the game. Of recent was dropping the cineform codec in PPro 2.0, and saying it's now native, but only if you have a smoking gun of a machine. That was the same deal with PPro 1.0. The specs called out for monster machine that negated the need for any specialized DV hardware support. I should know, soon as I replaced my dual PIII with a dual P4 xeon, I shelved the storm.
