Matrox RT.X and Premiere Pro 2
Matrox RT.X100, RT.X10 and Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0
Matrox will provide an update to the Matrox X.tools software for RT.X100 Xtreme Pro and RT.X10 that will support Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and Adobe Production Studio. The update will support all of the current functionality of Matrox X.tools with the exception of WYSIWYG support for Adobe Encore DVD 2.0. WYSIWYG will be provided, however, to support the new DVD authoring features of Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0. The Matrox X.tools update will be provided as a free download to registered RT.X100 and RT.X10 users. A preview release will be available in February. While quantities last, Matrox dealers will continue to sell Matrox RT.X100 Xtreme Pro Collection bundles that include Adobe Video Collection. Adobe will offer free upgrades to Adobe Production Studio Standard to RT.X100 Xtreme Pro Collection customers who purchase RT.X100 Xtreme Pro Collection between January 17, 2006 and April 17, 2006. Shipping and handling charges may apply. Adobe will handle the upgrade directly with the customer, who must provide proof of purchase within the qualifying purchase time period. Details regarding the upgrade procedure will be provided to your dealer in the coming weeks. - As taken from the Matrox Site Located at: http://www.matrox.com/video/products...rt_adobe20.cfm |

The only drawback I see right away, is this free upgrade for those users with the RT.X100 Extreme Video Collection is while your PPRO and After Effects will be upgraded your Encore and Audition will not be. However you will get PhotoShop CS2.

hmm... methinks that adobe are slowly moing away from teh dependacy on HW encoder/decoder cards... the HW utilisation of openGL within the system pretty much makes these RT cards redundant.. the RT, a great system as it is, IS fairly dated to todays standards and is very restrictive on what u can do within a project.
I love the RTx100, its a robust WORKABLE system, but it seems taht PP2 is now making its use redundant (in a way) as more than likely, the rendering/prerendering in prem2 will be faster than realtime (which is as fast as the RT units go...) As an example, Vegas6 with a HT machine renders almost 3 times faster than realtime, this in itself made the RTx redunadant for many users. Now with this in mind, im assuming that prem2 will be even faster than this considering teh HW support (being gfx card not RT) Alot happening :) this can only be a good thing for Prem users! |
