Best configuration of drives, scratch disks, etc in new system for using Premiere?
I have recently had a new high spec edit PC built. It comes with 4 drives as follows:
Drive 1 - 250Gb SSD currently the root drive. This drive is dual boot partitioned with a 50/50 split of the 250Gb. On one partition is Windows 7, on the other Windows 10. Right now I have installed Premiere Pro on the Windows 10 partition. Drive 2 - 500Gb SSD Drive 3 - 1TB SSD Drive 4 - 2TB 7200rpm HDD (ie not SSD) So what would be the best configuration across these disks for the following: Captured Video Captured Audio Video Previews Audio Previews Project Autosave CC Libraries downloads Project files Media Cache Files Media Cache Database Thanks. |

Re: Best configuration of drives, scratch disks, etc in new system for using Premiere
Hi Nigel
Fist you transfer the cards to disk 4. You must get also one more disk 5 external 4-5 TB and make copies off the the folders from 4th disk. You use the disk 3 for libraries extra music and media cache files end exrtra stuff. Then you copy the projects and AV files to disk 2 and also you use disk 2 for previews. Renders go to disk 4. The idea is to split the transfers betwin the 2 SSD. After a succesfull Edit you erase the 2nd disk and put the next project. The 5th Disk is optional in case that you use tapes but if you use cards having the stuff in only one place itn't a good idea. So.. Captured Video - Disk2 Captured Audio - Disk2 Video Previews - Disk2 Audio Previews - Disk2 Project Autosave - Disk2 CC Libraries downloads - Disk3 Project files - Disk2 Media Cache Files - Disk3 Media Cache Database - Disk3 |
