Q: PPro, best method to organize media files for sharing/archive?
Previously I was using a HDV camera, and all my footage was always in the 'capture' folder. Now I have a dslr, and per my setup, my video/audio are across several folders from each device's card.
I am going to being working on a project with a friend. We will be on separate systems, but using the same version of Premiere Pro. I thought the simplest thing to do would be to copy the entire project folder to him, and we could exchange PPro project files. But I realized that because our HDD's have different designations. When we share project files, PPro will need to relink media. There are 6 media folders right now, so that means at minium we'll have to relink media 6x, maybe more. That is quite annoying. I am thinking of putting the date and folder name before each file, and then putting all media files into one folder. That way when sharing a project file between my friend and I, the relink is only one step, and if there is a need to relink preview files, that can be handled manually if need be. Does this make sense? Or am I over-complicating this? Anyone have insight on what to do here? |
