when to re-install?
My Premiere Pro (part of CS5 suite) has been acting odd is small ways for several weeks now - and turning off and on doesn't help.
sometimes it won't show me a high layer video...today it wouldn't accept typed-in values for resize or audio levels. Are there any fixes to try? or is something just corrupted? or could it be a computer problem? any suggestions as to what to check would be appreciated - thanks! |

Re: when to re-install?
What have you tried so far Robert? Have you reset preferences? Have you checked the Adobe help links?
Adobe Premiere Pro Help There are some knowledgable people here, but it might be an idea to try the Adobe Premiere Pro, and Hardware forums before getting drastic. Harm posts here as well, and would be as good as anyone to fire a few suggestions your way.

Re: when to re-install?
If turning off and on doesn't help, and computer shut down-reboot (not restart) doesn't help, then you need to re-install the product.
Then - 1. Switch off all other programs, get off the internet (if you are connected), and try again. 2. Open your project in another computer if possible 3. Try different projects and/or file-types in your computer, and see how that behaves If the problem still persists, then you could check for the following: 1. Bad sectors or errors on your hard drives - scan and defragment thoroughly. 2. Check your RAM for corruption, etc 3. Check your video drivers 4. Check for malware, viruses or the like, and scan your registry Usually the problem is a conflict between two programs or drivers. If you are on Windows you can check the error log for clues. If the problems still persists, you have to raise a ticket with Adobe - it could be a bug, but only their support can help you from there on. Hope this helps.

Re: when to re-install?
By the time you have read all the replys you could have done a format and installed eveything again. That's what I do when I have problems.

Re: when to re-install?
At least try trashing the prefs and check again before doing a re-install.

Re: when to re-install?
I deleted the preferences - and updated my video drivers - but it's still acting up. Going to re-install.

Re: when to re-install?
I un-installed CS5.5, ran the Adobe Creative Cleaner, then re-installed CD5.5 - and the problem is gone.
Anyone know what causes a program to develop a glitch like this in the first place? any steps to prevent it? |
