Moving clips up and down between tracks, a way to do it like FCP?
Hi Guys,
I've searched around for a solution to this but to no avail. When cutting a sequence, I often move clips up and down between two tracks. In Final Cut Pro, there was a nice little way of doing this and locking the position in time (I believe you pressed Shift whilst moving up and down, and the clip would not move any frames forwards or backwards, just up or down) Is there a way to do this in Premiere? When moving a clip between tracks, it is quite easily to nudge it a few frames, when I really don't want to do this. Obviously having Snap enabled helps this, but is there a keyboard solution to this? Thanks a lot!!! |

No setting for locking down in time but a workaround is to use your playhead for snapping.
Set your playhead at the first or last frame of the clip then move up or down. We could do with such a feature: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform...?name=wishform |

Since this issue was also brought up to Adobe by some serious players, I fully expect it to be implemented in CS6. So far, all that remains is snapping.

Thanks guys, never even thought of it as a feature until it was gone! It's the little things I guess!

It's not a keyboard solution, of course, but if snapping is on you do get the black-line-and-white- triangle indicator when you drag a clip to another track and it synchs in place...for those of us duffers who do everything by mouse, it works ok....must say, I have seen keyboard-editors at work and they are fast and efficient, much to envy there!
