Word of warning when searching metadata in merged clips (Premiere CS5.5)
Our production discovered something odd about Premiere Pro CS5.5 today.
Apparently you cannot search tags/metadata of merged clips in the project window, even if you put metadata onto the merged clip. You have to use "Find" with the option specifically set to the metadata type and then enter your search term... and that only brings it up one by one... Here's hoping this is fixed in an update to CS5.5 so future productions won't have to suffer through the confusion of unsearchable merged clip metadata. We are using the merge clip feature because we are syncing Edirol R44 audio with Canon 7D and 60D video for the production. Merge clip is more convenient than nesting since double clicking on a merged clip brings it up like any other AV clip: in the Source monitor. Nesting brings up a sequence that's hard to preview and not lose your edit under a tab. Nesting also downmixes the source tracks and combines them, not something we would want to deal with... |
