CS5.5 AVCHD sync timecode with spanned clips

I was very excited to see that finally Premiere could see the timecode from my HMC150's. The time saved syncing 8 hours of footage in post was going to be welcomed. Alot of my recording is continous which results in long spanned clips joined together by Premiere on import. My heart sank to find that to sync two clips from diferent cameras (both HMCs) was not possible if one or both of the clips was a spanned clip. I am hoping there is a work around for this?
