PProHeadless ????
Can anybody tell me what PProHeadless is and what it's function is.
I get frequent stalls or crawls using CS4 Premiere and Encore and when I look in WindowsTask Manager I quite often see 2 or 3 instances of this exe. I'm wondering if they conflict and cause the problems with CS4, I know that it is something to do with Adobe. but haven't been able to find much info about it. Another thing that happens when CS4 hangs and I have to close it is a get an Adobe Fonts Capture and a DDE Server dialogue box stating this programme is not responding and I have to end now. Again anybody have any ideas why these might upset CS4? |

Re: PProHeadless ????
George, PProHeadless.exe is the Premiere Pro rendereing engine, running in a "headless" mode. Usually, this is from Adobe Media Encoder rendering out a sequence, or perhaps After Effects if you've inserted a PPro sequence using Dynamic Link.
While I can't help you much with troubeshooting beyond that little bit of info, I can assure you that if you upgrade to CS5, you'll have MUCH fewer issues. You'll upgrade to 64-bit performance, the ability (with certain video cards) to have GPU accelerated playback and effects, and much, much more. CS5 (and now CS5.5) is just a killer suite. |

Re: PProHeadless ????
Thanks for that Brian.
I know those who get on with CS5 love it but it's a lot of outlay to make in hardware/software in the hope to overcome a few occasional, though very frustrating, problems. I'm sure that CS4 must have worked well at sometime, I remember people praising it when I made the move, so I'll continue trying to get to the bottom of my problems with it.. |
