Re: Auto captue clip log?

If you are capturing standard def (DV) footage with device control, open the capture window and at the bottom right select "scene detect". You can then set in and out points and click "record" to select part of the tape or record the whole tape. Start/stop makes a new clip every time it finds a break where you stopped and started the camera.

This feature is, unfortunately, not available for HDV capture, nor does HDV footage display in the capture window while it is being captured, at least thru CS4, can't speak for CS5.

(Aside: If they have not, it seems to me Adobe could have fixed this by now, it's been standard on Final Cut for ages)

Edit: CS5 help files indicate that that version now supports HDV 1080i and 720p scene detection as well as DV. Not so in earlier versions.

Re: Auto captue clip log?

Premiere has scene detection for HDV but no preview during capture.
Make sure to check Scene Detect in the Capture Window.
If you want both use HDV-split.
HDVSplit utility for HDV capturing with scene split - HDV capture utility
