Premiere Pro CS5 5.0.1 Update

New Premiere Pro CS5 5.0.1 update:

It ads support for more "real time" layers on the GTX285.

Sweet!

The PC update is for the "retail DVD".

I downloaded and installed the CS5 trial, then purchased the DVD.... and entered my serial number into the trial version, thus, the 5.01 version will not install.

How does one update that installation? Should I uninstall, then reinstall with the DVD set?

It should be available on the website now. Just install the correct version.

Sheri said: There are separate updates for the DVD vs. download version. We had an issue with the Windows update for download version bits and are working to fix it this morning. It should post shortly.

It will also be available via update manager today.

Installed and with 6 HDV video layers, each with a MPE effect and scaling for PIP, plus a subtitle track and a transparent video track with timecode, all remains yellow and plays perfectly on a GTX-480.

The track limit has been upped or removed. Further checking needs to be done.

Hi Harm,

Is this performance with "user-unmodified compatibility"? ...or is it with the code change?

If it's unmodified, Adobe is really kicking in the compatibility expansion that they promised...

(Which is great!)

Tim,

The only thing I changed in the Nvidia control panel under 3D settings was multiple display performance mode. I have not seen any performance gain from setting multiple CPU support on with NHance.

On another front, if you are on a PC and use CS5, could you drop me a PM. I have a request that will take at least 15 minutes of your time, possibly several times that over the next weeks.

Harm what Tim was asking is have you manually 'added' your GTX-480 to force the MPE to recognise it OR does this update actually add support for this GPU? I would think Adobe would actually state that the update adds increased compatibility with more cards if this were the case. The update simply states more layers on the 285.

In any case I will be the first to eat my hat given I had previously said the track limit was some back door deal to force you to buy a Quadro. This is fantastic news and dare I say unprecedented in terms of speed for an update that doesn't fix anything, but rather adds features for free.

Of course to all those who rushed out and bought a Quadro to get more tracks...OUCH!!! ;-)

GTX275 with the Cuda-Hack = > 4 tracks 550D/T2i 1080p24 footage, each added with a mpe-accelerated effect, were playing back in real time. As soon I switched another layer it became choppy but on the tl you could still see the yellow line no matter how many tracks I added (I gave 13 a shot).

The PC Electronic Download Update version is still failing here.

Has anyone utilized this version successfully?

The word was that it was corrupt and slated to be corrected by yesterday.

Secondarily, does 5.01 show up in the Adobe Updater for anyone?
