Exporting to 1080 50p&60p with either MPEG2 or VC-1 at DVinfo.net

I'm experimenting editing 1080 50p/60p files on Premiere CS4 and when exporting to Main Concepts H.264, I get no issues what so ever but when exporting to MPEG2, I'm told that it couldn't export because my settings are wrong. Can anyone tell me which settings to use? Also, I have no way of exporting to VC-1. Can somebody give me a link to download a program to allow me to export to that codec?

Keep in mind that the files are from the TM700 so it's not like I meant to say 60i.

I doen not use MC but my quess would be 50p/60p is only supported for high definition not standard def.

Paulo,

Keep in mind that 1920 X 1080 60"P" is not a standard ASTC format. I have an HS700 and have found that CS4 will accept the native format on the time line. You have taken it further to establish that it won't convert the format to MPEG2. A question I also had. I hope that either CS5 or a third party such as Cimeform will provide a conversion platform to use this format. You might check out this link.

Yes, 60p can also be used for SD files as well.

In another web forum, someone claimed to have exported to MPEG2 at 1080 60p using Nero 10 and another user had exported to VC-1 at 1080 60p using another cheap software. I have tried that user's VC-1 file on my PS3 and it works flawlessly. The MTS and the M2T generated files from Panasonic bundled software also works flawlessly on my PS3 as long as I don't have any picture enhancements enabled. Theirs even software that can smart render 1080 60p files such as Video Redo and if they can do it than at least Nero 10 should do it although that would have to be an update and I'm hoping they already have plans for it. These files also works perfectly fine on my 2.4GHz Core2Duo laptop although the PS3 is slightly better.

I hear that it's already part of the ATSC spec but when it comes to Blu-Ray authoring, you can put your edited 1080 60p piece on a DATA Blu-Ray disc and the PS3 will play it. The fact of the matter is that most Blu-Ray players are the PS3 anyway.

Good information. I didn't purchase the camera for the unique format but it's good to know that it is possible to archive and view the format. I hadn't heard that ATSC has or may adopt it as part of the standard but hoped that individuals could utilize it for their own systems. Also, I don't know if the format has an advantage to "down" convert to mainstay Blueray or DVD standards. But it's fun to experiment!

Might be worth playing with the "profile" setting in your encoder - main profile, high profile etc. 60P likely requires a higher setting ...
