Realize a number of things:
No notebook can measure up to an equally or lower priced desktop. Switching platforms means that a lot of utilities/programs you were acquainted with and that fitted in your work flow, either need to be bought again for the new platform or are not available on the new platform. The specs you mention are somewhat OK for EX material, but way underpowered if you need to edit AVCHD. The MAC version of CS4 is more limited than the PC version. There are numerous effects and transitions missing in the MAC version. MACs are very pricey in comparison to PC. Desktops have a lot more screen estate than notebooks. A new desktop allows for reusing several parts from the current one, lowering the investment. You may be better off with an i7 desktop for less than the cheapest Macbook while getting at least 5 times better performance. |
