DVCPRO HD workflow?
I've used Premiere Pro CS3 for a while now, but I will be doing a project shot on DVCPRO HD (24p) for the first time.
I'd like some pointers on the recommended workflow, or maybe links to online tutorials. For example, do I import the audio and video clips separately, or is there a way to import all the data from all the directories (transferred from the P2 card) and have Premiere automatically match up everything? Any help is appreciated. J, |

I haven't done that much P2 work, but first make sure you're running the 3.2 update with CS3.
You should be able to just import in the .mxf files from the P2 cards (files that I would copy onto your internal hard drive for editing, as well as making a backup somewhere for safe keeping) and the audio and video should be sync'd up when it comes in. Also, unless you're going to film-out when your done, I'd work at a 29.97 fps project setting. If you're going to master out onto a standard def. DVD, it may save you some hassle. If I'm not mistaken, DVCPRO HD records at 29.97 with pulldown flags for 23.976 (24P). Just my advice... |

Whaddya know, it works! I imported video from the VIDEO directory, and Premiere found all the data from the other directories too.
I wonder why there are sometimes multiple (and apparently identical) audio tracks for each video clip, though... |
