CS4 Audio Playback
New system - Quad Core processor, 4 GB RAM, Win XP SP 2, dual monitor. Editing with very high quality XDCAM footage - 1920 x 1080i. Audio plays back smoothly in CS3, but lots of choppy sound in CS4. Same files, same footage, same hardware. Any possible solutions?
Thank you. Paul |

I'd conjecture that your system running out of resources to play the audio. This shows up in CS4 because the new release uses more resources than CS3. I notice this on my installation of CS3 on a system similar to yours right before the PP memory leak overwhelms the computer and makes it crash.
You might want to research the Adobe PP technical FAQs for system optimization techniques, especially implementing "selective startup". Also make sure that any virus software is not running. Basically, stop any application/process you do not need that consumes resources. You want every byte of memory and every cpu cycle you can get your hands on. |

I have found CS4 to be exceptionally buggy. Have you downloaded and applied the updates for CS4? These updates fixed some other problems I was having. Your mileage may very.
