Insert and Overlay stopped working mid-project!
Hi all,
I can't find any useful info on this problem and it's really annoying. The project: Edit a bunch of avi footage together for background video at an event. There is no audio with this footage. I have 8 clips, each one is around 90-100 mins. The process: I play through each in the source window with the shuttle at full speed, looking for funny/useful spots. After finding one, I back up with the arrow keys, hit I for In, go forward with the right arrow, find the end spot and hit O to set the Out. Then I would hit , (comma) and it would drop into the timeline. I'm just appending to the end of the timeline, not really inserting or overlaying. The problem: The , and . (comma and period) keys have stopped working. They're both listed in the preferences, I haven't changed any of the default keyboard shortcuts. The buttons in the source window (for Insert and Overlay) have also stopped working. So has double-clicking the source clip (or at least I did this in CS2, hadn't tried it on this project, so maybe this hasn't stopped functioning). The workaround: I have to drag the selected clip to the end of the timeline, then click in the timeline window, hit End, then back to the source for more shuttling. I've tried deleting the preferences file, that hasn't helped. I've rebooted, ditto. It's version CS3 3.2.0 (374), which just came out a few days ago. Again, there's no audio with this project. I've seen that as being a source of this type of problem, or the audio getting screwed up in the process, but I have none with my footage. I have a few days to get this wrapped and it's really slowing me down having to drag and click and hit End and all that stuff, because there's literally hundreds of edits to be done. Thanks in advance! Eric |
