Premiere cs3 and DVCPro HD Batch Converter on Vista (Slow and Choppy)

I am using the old serious magic DVCPro HD Batch Converter (which came with dvrack 2 hd) to transcode and view footage shop on a P2. When I used to do this on my XP system I found I was able to view the MXF and transcoded avi files smoothly in premiere cs2 and cs3, but now I am using vista ultimate 32 bit and the playback in both the nle and using media player is choppy or non existent. The mxf files wont play at all abd tghe sound is also choppy. Serious magic's DVCPro HD Batch Converter installed without issue on vista and updated so I am at a loss as to what is causing the issue. Friends of mine using FCP to look at the same footage do not have this issue, so I tend to think it is a codec compatibility issue with vista, cs3 or both. Haven't done this in a while so any helpful suggestions is appreciated.
