Editing HDV, output SD on preview monitor
I am in the middle of a project and soon I am to color correct it.
Final delivery will be SD, and its all shot and edited in HDV. Is it possible for me to feed a SD signal to a SD monitor through Firewire and a cam as usual to get a SD picture. Meaning, I will deal with HDV material but the monitor outputs SD for preview. Kindest regards

What I personally do is use an S-Video SD monitor through the s-video port on my normal graphics card. With premiere, it seems to work fine that way. **When you create the project file** you *have* to select it in the playback settings. It comes up as "Monitor:2" in one of the playback settings menu's pulldown menu. It won't be available after this step, at least for me it never is.
Other than that, it's a good working setup! Carl |

Thanks Carl,
But does this require any special graphics card. I have a S-video out on mine but I have never tried it?

Mine is a geForce 8800 GTS.... a gamer's card not a video editor's card. And honestly, I'm not really happy with a lot of the issues the 8800 has, but I've gotten by. Give yours a shot! I think it will do what you want it to do, just plug the monitor into the s-video, and turn on dual monitors, and select Monitor:2 in the playback settings. Enjoy!
