Support Rod Specs?
Does anybody here know what the standard support rod specs are? (Diameter, centerline separation, etc.)
I'm building a matte box (because I think spending $20 on materials and a day of labor beats shelling out $3000) and I will need to also build support rods to mount it to. I'd like to make them in a standard configuration in case I want to add a commercial follow-focus rig later. Thanks in advance, -Eric |

Standard Rod Diameter: 15mm
Standard Rod Spacing: 60mm What are you using for materials? $20 to build a matte box seems a bit low... BTW, a matte box / rods system can be had for under $1k. $3k is apporaching Arri prices! Best,

Thanks for the info! The material I will be using is mostly thin sheet metal. I will post pics when it's complete.
Yep, $3k is a bit high... turns out the guy quoting prices to me assumed I wanted a follow-focus rig included! |

Yeah a FF will jack the price up a bit...
Apparently Red Rock Micro is making an affordable one. How affordable, we'll have to wait and see.
