iPhone 15 Pro Spatial Video (3D stereoscopic)
Hugh Hou on YouTube provided an actual 3D spatial video sample from the iPhone 15 Pro and his workflow to convert to other formats. This is quite exciting.

Re: iPhone 15 Pro Spatial Video (3D stereoscopic)
So after "upgrading" to the iPhone 15 Pro and downloading the latest iOS 17.2 beta, I was off to the races recording "spatial video", which is just 3D Stereoscopic video packaged in their format.
There is a beta iOS app "Spatialify" that allows converting/exporting the files into Side by Side stereoscopic -- so one can free-view or use a Stereo Lorgnette or other 3d viewer to see the videos directly on the iPhone. It's pretty amazing. With one swoop, Apple has basically put thousands of 3D cameras in the hands of folks. The only complaint is that the cameras on the iPhone don't have a lot of separation--so it works great indoors with things closer to you, but outdoors, things flatten out beyond 20 -30 feet (my opinion). |
