DVi Member Tim Polster Covers Events with Panasonic P2 HD Handhelds

NEWARK, NJ (January 28, 2015) – Tim Polster, owner/videographer of sister companies Metroplex Multimedia and Watch My MVP, both of Arlington, TX, has transitioned to three Panasonic AJ-PX270 P2 HD handhelds for all his primary acquisition. Metroplex Multimedia is a multifaceted production company specializing in corporate video and live event coverage. Watch MY MVP produces highlight reels, scholarship videos and related materials for high school and middle school sports teams. Polster, a longtime Panasonic shooter, said that he bought one PX270 last spring, then quickly purchased an additional two camcorders to replace his two tape-based cameras. He has used the camcorders on numerous dance and music recitals and concerts, as well as extensive sports assignments.

“My former shoulder-mount cameras were limiting me to tripod use, and so much of my business is run-and-gun sports coverage that I really needed to be shooting handheld,” he said. “When I demoed the PX270, I was very impressed with the color matrix and broadcast-level color controls–the images blew me away.”

“Equally impressive were the camcorder’s super smooth servo zoom and the total lack of noise,” Polster added. “There is so much light sensitivity that there’s simply no trade off from having worked with 2/3” cameras. The PX270 is without a doubt the best 1/3” camera I’ve ever been around.”

“The camcorder is compact and lightweight, and the auto control and auto focus are so good that I can concentrate on content only when shooting handheld. The increased mobility the PX270 affords has really improved my product offerings,” he said.

Polster has staged many multi-camera shoots, genlocking the cameras to sync timecode. He typically shoots AVC-LongG25 (providing 10 bit 4:2:2 quality at bit rates of approximately 25 Mbps) in either 1080/60p or 720/60p, and edits in EDIUS Pro 7.
