Any way to bring back audio under a clip after it has been cut?
 

I have many clips that have been cut and assembled on my timeline. Some of which I have removed the audio and left just the video only. However, I found one clip (part of a much larger segment) that I would like to bring the audio back. Is there any way to do this without loading the entire 20 minute segment back into the timeline?

Certainly Jerry. Your timeline is just a 'decision list', changeable at any time and able to be saved-as at any time.

All the original video and synchronised audio footage still exists in its raw form on the computer's hard disc. Simply pull the *.avi file once more to your timeline, and cut it down to the piece you want.

IF you have Excalibur there is a "find orphan A/V" tool which works wonders but if not then Toms suggestion is the way to go.

Or you could just right click the file, choose "Open in Trimmer," and bring the audio back down for that specific segment as it's been cut on the timeline.

While I certainly use Excalibur for this, the manual method would be to right-click the segment and choose "Open in Trimmer". Then that file is opened in the trimmer with that section selected. You can just grab the audio in that section and drag it to the timeline. You might want to group them afterwards.

Scripts are definitely the simplest option for this, though.
