Mute right send left channel to left & right?
 

Is there a simple way to mute the right channel on an audio track and send the left channel equally to right and left with out having to do an intermediate render?

Right click the audio, choose "Channels" and then choose "Left Only."
Now you'll only hear a mono/single track resulting from the left channel audio.
