Let me second that.

This article is the bible, and from the comparisons I've seen, the Deshaker/VDUB combo is a very worthy package - especially when you consider the price.

VDUB itself is such a mind obliteratingly brilliant tool that no one should be without this weapon in their work belt.

Great package, John Meyer gratiously removing the learning curve, and no out of pocket cost...

What's not to like?

Incidentally, Mike, is the Windsor Ballet still the great international institution it once was?

(former Detroiter, now in Chicago).

Brian, I must confess that, until you mentioned it, I don't think I've heard of the Windsor Ballet. The only Google info I could find refers to a local dance company. Is that what you were referring to? Or were you referring to places like Jason's, Cheetah's, Studio 4, etc.?

On the North side of the border, the institutions you have referenced are widely referred to as the "Windsor Ballet".

Must be a Detroit thing.

That explains the reference I found to it in an article on the Superbowl coming to Detroit last year. Google "windsor ballet" and it's the second hit.
And all along I thought we were just "Sin City" or Tijuana North" :-)
As far as I know (living outside of Essex these days), those "institutions" are alive and well, in spite of the recent province-wide smoking ban.

Isn't there some sort of Deshaker present as a plug-in for Vegas? I believe I read that somewhere....

I previously tried to run deshaker in Vegas using Satish's Wax plugin, with mixed results, but I found that it made more sense to simply process the footage in Virtualdub, and then bring the finished "deshaked" footage back into Vegas.

I do it the same way. I also had no sucess in using the deshaker in the wax plugin. If I got to use a VDub filter I prefer to use it in Vdub. I often do frameserving from Vegas to VDub.

Is there a tangible advantage in frameserving between the two apps as opposed to dropping the rendered VDub output onto the Vegas Timeline?

Does running both these apps together like this heavilly tax the system resources?

Hello Brian,

You definetly can run one or even more VDubs at the same time with Vegas. Just set the priorites in Vdub to low. The VDubs work then very fine in the background and consume only the computing Power that vegas does not use.

Frameserving for deshaking – I never tried this, but I think I should work. I prefer editing in Vegas while VDub works in the back.
