Monitor Calibration issue > Washed out

I changed a PC and lost the previous settings on Vegas to the monitor. I noticed my colour correction being a little washed out most of the time (on a TV playback) unless i use the waveform to keep the levels within 0 to 100.

What can i do to get it closer? I read Glenn's article but i'm not sure the best way to handle cineform neoscene files.

Basically i shoot in 5D2 > transcode to avi with Neoscene > Drag to Vegas (studio RGB) and start editing. Then the preview is in Computer RGB so i guess the nice darks i m seeing on screen does not tally. Is the only way to have a secondary output?

Re: Monitor Calibration issue > Washed out

Yeah, I have my computer hooked into my TV (which has a VGA port on the back) and I double check everything on there.

I also will burn a test DVD and play it on the oldest technology in the house (a tube TV and a $30 DVD player that is in the family room).

It sucks, but it's so hard to get a regular computer monitor balanced right. Mine, for example, is very dark, and if I wasn't piping it into my TV I would be totally lost. You can even find a small flat panel TV and it will probably have a VGA port. (or you can use your video card's HDMI output if it has one).

Before that I used an Amiga monitor!
