No Raylight Files in 8.1
 

has this been covered?? We are only getting audio importing Raylight avi's into 8.1 timeline. 8c is fine...? Is Raylight a no go for 64b OS? If so, 8.1 is a train wreck at this point.

Please ask them if they currently support 64-bit and let us know what they say.

Yes, please do. I'm upgrading to 8.1 and Vista 64-bit soon, and wonder if my Raylight files will work...

so far it looks like there is a registry patch and maybe an upgrade to allow 8.1 to use Raylight. Im a bit confused using there message board tech help deal. I see no information that addresses this specifically. All we know is when we import an AVI from Raylight into 8.1 Vista 64b we only get audio track. That same file in 8c works perfectly. We are big Raylight fans having just bought P2's. We cant use 8.1 at all, its just too fragile. Lucky for us the speed increase is not that much for us to not use 8c until 8.1 decides whether its going to be a grown up program or stay another year in high school.

It's the same problem with Cineform. Vegas 8.1 only supports 3rd party codecs if they are 64 bit. The "built-in" Vegas codecs that are 32 bit are accessed by Vegas 8.1 by spawning a 32 bit "proxy" program. Unfortunately, at the moment that approach doesn't work with RayLight and Cineform, which are only available in 32 bit. My guess is that when Adobe starts making noise about 64 bit versions of After Effects and Premiere (CS5?), you will start to see more payware 64 bit codecs. As for the present, most of the 64 bit codecs are ports of 32 bit freeware codecs.
