Vimeo / Facebook output in HD
 

What is the best settings to have when rendering on vegas.
Because currently my 2minute clips are under 100mb.
I want the best quality I can get within the 500mb-1gb range for any clip.

I try to save my settings in mpeg-2 but it has some .m2t file extension which vimeo/facebook doesnt allow.

any input would be greatly appreciated

the video on the link explains an ultra wide option of rendering but if you don't like it ignore everything else except the setting on the vimeo template but before he changes the height. Anyway it is the same as in my attachments.

For the same file, you could try changing the extension to .mpeg and see if that will work. Better yet, why not convert to h.264 instead of Mpeg 2. You’ll obviously get better looking videos with the same file size.

Rendering to WMV HD gives some nice results

I render to Sony AVC format in Vegas. That is MP4 AVC aka H.264. It works fine.

my file is so small when i go this route. and im going uncompressed.

I tried high bitrate and those with slower broadband connections could not view Vimeo content I created without buffering/stuttering. Use Mpeg 4. I'll try to post more specific settings, once I fire up vegas later on.

avc works better than wmv for me on Vimeo.

You'll *generally* find that in the 1-3Mbps range, AVC works better than WMV for high motion, but WMV offers better saturation (usually)
We did some experimenting for UCG sites, and found we prefer AVC using modified templates for iPod, and 720p goes up to Vimeo ever so sweetly.
Some of theVASST software products offer unique templates for this, specifically aimed at Google video and Vimeo.

Personally speaking -
I can never get a successful render for HD on vimeo when using the AVC template no matter what tweaks I perform. There might be something that I'm missing because of my limited experience but with WMV and or WMV HD I get better results overall.

In Vegas, that means selection Main Concept or Sony AVC, and selecting bit rates as recommended.

What would be the best quality settings and size for SD video uploaded to Vimeo?
I want to make it as large as I can to the 720x480 w/o losing quality while staying
under the Vimeo 500mg limit. Can someone give me the proper Sony Vegas 8 settings?
