Re-number chapter markers
Is there a method of selecting all of the markers in a project and re-numbering them? I needed to add a chapter in the middle of a project and it is out of order.

I've been looking for a way to do this for a while myself so I decided to look through my collection of archived tips and guess what was in there :-)
1. Open the Edit Details view (Alt-6, or go to the View menu). 2. Select "Show: Markers". 3. Click on the blank space that is at the intersection of the row and column headings (in the upper left corner of the Edit Details window, just under the word "Show:". This will select everything 4. Press Ctrl-X to Cut everything. Immediately press Ctrl-V to paste everything back. |
Thank you Mike. What a handy dandy thing to know!

Scripts can also do the same thing - they just retrieve a list of where they all are, delete them all, and add them back. However, the bigger question I would have is why this needs to be done? For example, when rendering out and creating chapter points for a DVD, it's the POSITION of the marker that matters - not the order in which they were created.

Hi Edward,
Didn't know that. I thought I remembered that when they were numbered out of order that when choosing next that you ended up going to chapters in numerical order, I must be mistaken. Thanks for clearing that up. |
