HDV to DV... dumping to a Media 100
I've run into a bit of a problem...
This is about as much converting as you can possibly do... HDV to DV 16:9 to 4:3 From Vegas to a Media 100 (PC to Mac) I've already got the cropping down, it came out great, when I was shooting I focused on keeping the subject within the 4:3 boundries, but still shot in HDV. Knowing I'd crop it later. Another big issue is I'm in Washington and the guy I shot for is in California. He has a Media 100 he edits on, and says it can take a harddrive with files, or he has a DV tape deck. (He can borrow an HDV one too) either way. So I tried an uncompressed .avi, which was 600 megs for 20 seconds of video, he said that didn't work, then I tried an uncompressed .mov which ended up around 600 megs for 20 seconds (I took out the audio, because he's putting music over it) and says I need to use a DV Codec so he doesn't have to re-encode. I then tried under .mov to choose DV/DVCPRO NTSC and 720 x 480, .9091 PAR, 29.97, Progressive, Uncompressed, and it came out like Youtube. 70 megs for the same 20 second clip. Not sure what to do now. Basically, where is the DV Codec, and how can I encode to that. |
Any thoughts?

You can select the Sony DV codec by going to the .avi format in the save dialog box, and selecting a DV preset.
