Sharing on Facebook - embed from Vimeo, or upload to Facebook?
Quality can be an issue, and not everyone has the sense to choose the HD option, but I've been considering the benefits for exposure and tracking your 'reach' might be worth it.
What do you guys do? |

If you want quality, embed from Vimeo.

Re: Sharing on Facebook - embed from Vimeo, or upload to Facebook?
Hey Clive
I use YouTube and just paste the link into my FB page post and it comes up automatically ..quality seems to be just as good. I'm uploading to YT as 1920x1080 25fps and encoding at just 8000 kbps ..haven't had any complaints with quality. Just also realise that very few brides will use a computer with a massive HD screen and they will probably watch it on their phone anyway so it will look pretty slick on a small screen. I really don't think that brides will pixel peep ..all they want to see is the content and how pretty the bridesmaids look!! |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your video is uploaded direct to facebook, then it collates all likes and comments from all people whoever shares it. Isn't that good?
Unless you become personal friends with clients you generally never get to see the reaction of their friends to it if they only share the vimeo/youtube link. Am I wrong? |

Of course the flip-side is that ignorance might be bliss. |

There is also the benefit of the video auto playing when uploaded to Facebook. Easier to grab someone's attention.

Facebook has unpublished many of my pages containing embed video I've produced due to not being updated.

Re: Sharing on Facebook - embed from Vimeo, or upload to Facebook?
As noted, there are definite advantages to uploading directly to your FB Fan Page and NOT embedding from YT or Vimeo.
Thanks to FB algorithms, you get better exposure with direct uploads vs shared links. FB is more prone to promote original content vs a shared in link kind of thing. Plus, you get to better track comments, likes, and shares. There is a more direct tie to you and your brand when the video is actually on FB and not a link to an external site. Also, don't forget the importance of Instagram Video. Now that they are rolling out 60 second ability, I'm glad to be able to do more than the 15 second teasers! Right now, Instagram is very important because that's where the kids are... and thus, your future brides! Neglecting Instagram is a social marketing blunder. I've already gotten brides emailing me because they saw my photos and videos in Instagram. lol Crazy I know, but it works. |

I don't disagree that its can be annoying, especially when sound is involved, it can easily be turned off as a site function on Facebook by the user. It's just turned on by default. |

I would never use Facebook encoding as it is horrible. If you want your Vimeo video to play in HD then use this embed code and substitute the video number for the xxxx's.
