Re: Recommended shoes?
I buy high quality leather hiking shoes or boots, waterproof if possible. I add additional inner memory foam & an important often overlooked detail is proper hiking socks makes a world of difference. My iPhone tells me I do +/- 12km of walking/standing at a wedding over the course of 12 hours. My feet feels fine after all that walking.

Re: Recommended shoes?
Another note... So I was at a wedding yesterday, and noticed that the shoes seemed a bit slippy on the wooden floor of the church. I was sliding as I ran to set things up.
Then, later, during the photoshoot, I was racing to get a shot before the photographer restaged the couple, one foot struck the pavement at a bad angle, and then disaster! Sprained ankle, broken finger, bruised thigh, and, worst of all, broken 70-200 lens. (One finger somehow got squashed between camera and ground; but that didn't stop the end of the lens bashing concrete.) I limped through the rest of the day, and am hoping the foot heals sufficiently for next week's wedding. So, here's a big quality to add to the list of any potential shoe: has to have good grip... |
Re: Recommended shoes?
Adrian, so sorry about your accident, really tough break, no pun intended.
I sprained my ankle recently also. What worked for me is the following: Try doing very gentle toe raises several times a day on one foot, then the other. (Yes, do both) Go slowly and not full range of motion. It got my ankle back in shape in less than a week. Try not to allow your ankle to get stiff, keep moving it, often, you want to keep it flexible. If it stiffens it's worse. Also, when resting in bed, wiggle it gently every so often as far as you can. It's counterintuitive but it should help. You want to strengthen your good ankle also because it will be getting extra punishment due to your favoring your other, which can lead to a second sore ankle. Strengthing both should really help. Best of luck. |
