PluralEyes - WOW!
 

Some of you probably already know this, but since I'm new to the game, I just wanted to say that PluralEyes is not only a timesaver but a lifesaver...well worth the money.

Yea. It pays for itself the first time you use it. I recently had PE sync clips that didn't even have audio. Really no clue how it pulled it off, but it sure saved me some time.

Been using it since it's release and can't live without it, really one of the best innovations in video editing in years.

Really? Hmmm, recently at an event my husband was the 2nd Cameraman and he used his 5d without Audio to save space on his CF Card, thats when I didn't know about PluralEyes. So when I found out about it, it did not sync that part of the event without the Audio. Now, I definitely make sure that each cam has Audio. Good for you that it worked though

For the longest time I didn't know that I could set it up to where all the different scenes of my wedding could be synced and put into one single timeline. Before it would put each scene into separate timelines.

Secondly, it works for almost every situation except when there is a lot of background noise.

Plural Eyes has a hard time syncing up First Dance (sometimes) flower and garter toss (almost always) and Dancing.

Does Plural Eyes work for synching up a full length ceremony?

Yes...easily. Plural eyes is one of the biggest deciding factor to go 100% DSLR this season (hence my for sale thread with three Canon XH-A1s).

It can do something even more impressive than just a ceremony- the full reception. We record our reception audio with an Edirol R44. We let it run the whole night- so we have one really long audio file or files (roughly 4 or so). We drop that in a timeline along with all of the footage we shot even though there are start and stops all through the night. The non-formal dancing is especially fragmented. I hit the sync button in plural eyes and it syncs up the ENTIRE reception in a single timeline.

From there I simply cut out the audio that has no corresponding video and shuttle them around to their corresponding timeline. It truly is a brilliant workflow. Plural Eyes is the best investment I made in my business in 2011, and that's not an overstatement. Coincidentally it's also one of the reasons I'm stuck using FCP7 as opposed to the new X right now.

I like Plural Eyes alot. I don't love it though because I often have clips that don't get synched and as far as I can tell there is no reason for Plural Eyes to have trouble with them.

I love Pluraleyes. I find using try really hard and unchecking clips are chronological gives perfect results 99% of the time.

I've found that sometimes really short clips do not sync, rather get shoved to the end of the timeline and marked unsyn'd...

Is there a minimum length required? I suppose I should ask the makers...

I edit about 5-6 weddings without PluralEyes.. and after trying it on the 7th, I feel so stupid for allowing myself to edit without it. :(

Anyone here uses DualEyes, I'm still running on the trial. It helps in finding the audio I want from a 2 horus recorded audio. But I don't like it cutting my original audio into segments.

I don't believe there is a minimum time, but the shorter the clip, the less data Plural Eyes has to work with, which (obviously) means less accurate sync. For this reason, I always make sure that any clip that requires syncing is at least 30 seconds or so long. For example, if I'm shooting a ceremony, and want to spin around to grab a filler shot of the parents, I'll make sure that it's 30 seconds long, even if we're only using two seconds from the clip.

Another thing I do to ensure a good sync is to use a Rode Videomic, even if we're not using sound from the camera. We all know that if you're further back in a church and using the built in mic then it can sound like crap. Even if the sound isn't usable with the Rode, anything to make things clearer for Plural Eyes will help.

I -love- Plural Eyes. If I didn't have it, then I honestly believe that I would have pulled out all of my hair by now. The plugin is a life saver.

Add me to the folks who think PluralEyes is an amazing piece of software. For anybody who does multicam shoots it is worth ten times its price.

We shoot weddings and event videography with three and sometimes four cameras. PluralEyes has taken what was a frustrating and long process and automated it. We have not had it not be able to sync any of our multiple audio tracks. When there is a huge disparity in the volume / tone of two tracks we sometimes have to use the "try harder" button and that has always done the trick.
