Hahaha what is the groom doing? What is that he pulls out? It almost looks like it's on purpose, just take out a big clump of paper and play with it :D

I have no idea what he was doing.. but certainly made my work more challenging =)

Now I will also place a voice recorder in front of the speakers. It works better this way with Catholic weddings too.

There are times I will place the voice recorder on top of the speaker. Then have the wired lav mic dangling in front of the speakers. I have a comparison clip.. you will need headphone to listen to left/right channel to listen to the difference

However, this only works well with small to medium size speakers.

Taky Does the Olympus DM420 you use stay in sync or does it drift slightly?

I was told the DM520 doesn't drift at all. DM420 and DM520 are basically the same unit except for the smaller internal memory in DM420.

I only use DM420 the first time last week. Haven't started the editing work yet =)

Re: Do you use digital audio recorders?

We use Yamaha Pocketrak 2g's along with Giant Squids. During reception we use a Sennheiser e604 in case we can't tap into the DJ's line outs. Pocketrak's are super thin and work well for beach weddings when grooms don't wear jackets.
