For those shooting with the Canon 7D..
... just a quick little question on how many batteries and CF cards are you using for a entire wedding day shoot? Thanks
|
I have 3 batteries and 4 CF cards.
8gb x 1 16gb x 2 32gb x 1 i seem to do just fine. |
And this is for a single 7D camera, am I right? Thanks for the response.

I have 7 16gb cards but only use 4 of them for most weddings. If it's an Indian wedding I will use 5 cards.
3 Batteries is plenty. I always have one on the charger at my weddings and never have to stress about it. I would recommend getting one 32gb card so that you don't have to switch for longer ceremonies. Catholic ceremonies always have me changing the card. Not that big a deal for me thou. I swap them when they are praying for the third time! Buy Sandisk 30mbs or higher. No problems yet. |

5 Batteries total 16GB x 4 32GB x 2 |
1 x 5dmark2
1 x 7d 8 x batteries 9 x 16gb 3 x 32gb Our weddings almost always run for 12-16 hours and we record ceremony in full with the 5d. We usually dont finish the whole cards but on rare cases where we shoot for 17 hours, we might. |
Canon 7D
6 x 16gb 1 x 8gb 3 batteries Rebel 2ti 4 x 16gb 3 batteries Plan on buying 1 or 2 more for the rebel. Rather be safe than sorry. |
Canon 5D
4x32GB cards 6 batteries (I've never used more than 4 in a day's shooting) Normally I change out the card and battery at the same time - usually when the battery is about to run out, the card is just about full too. |
7D and 5D
8x 8gb 10x16gb 6 batteries. Always charge used during the reception. I dont finish each card to full before I replace a new one. I put a new card for new happenings/event of the day. Or if I fell like it. I know, that on average 4 x16gb might do it. so that if you lose 1 card, you don't loose all. Hope that helps. |

5 batteries 6 32GB Sandisk CF cards We average 10 hours of coverage per wedding and so far this setup has worked fine. You just have to be proactive in regards to charging batteries during the day, and also have a plan for CF card usage. |
Not meaning to hi-jack the thread, but to those of you who shoot a lot in memory cards, I would like to know what kind of storage solution you guys are using. I bought a drobo system beginning of this year and its approaching its capacity ( I have 4 x 1.5TB in them), and I'm only half way through my season.
It would be nice to hear what others are using. Thanks. |
6-32gb cards.
also watch out for 64gb cards. They don't work or just show up as 16gb or 32gb |

I should of asked as well as Brands of Cards as well. Someone here on DVinfo recommended Transcend Cards. They are cheaper, and I have heard they work great. Any thoughts?
