PC to MAC compatibility w/ Hard drives
I was wondering if anyone knows if I could use an external hard drive to transfer video from my PC laptop to my MAC desktop. I move smaller files with my flashdrive but it's only 1GB. I have an older ext. drive that holds 40GB but the last time I tried it wanted me to reformat. Any suggestions on what I can do.
I'm trying to edit in Premiere and finalize the dvd with DVD Studio Pro. Thanks |
Macs can read NTFS but can NOT write to it, there are 3rd party application that allow you to write to NTFS. They also can read to FAT32 and write as well but then you have to deal with the 4gig file limit size. However, if you are rendering to mpeg2 on the PC via premier you could just use NTFS if the file exceeds 4 gigs and author your DVD with DVD studio Pro.

I use MACDRIVE to run HFS+ formatted drives on my PC. Allows transfer between Mac and PC and works very well.

Using MacDrive is a really good solution. Have been using that for years.
