DVI to HDMI cable, downrez?
I'm going to purchase multimedia HD player and try to connect to my LCD TV through HDMI input:
http://www.sarotech.com/english/cgi/...md=view&rno=19 Does DVI-to-HDMI cable downrez or is there any other way to connect without losing resolution? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks! |
No, you will not loose anything as far as resolution or picture quality. The only difference between the two is that DMI is video only while HDMI is video plus audio.

there's one helluva lot of misinformation floating around about DVI/HDMI. The DVI standard allows for both digital and analog information to be passed down the DMI cable. So, if your source is analog DVI, you're SOL because HDMI is digital only. If your DVI source is digital, then you will be able to pass the signal to a HDMI input because HDMI is exclusively digital. To confuse the matter further, DVI digital is not the same as SD/HD-SDI.
