High end 20" Sony as production monitor?

I have a 20" high end Sony monitor with all the bells and whistles including a 16x9 setting and component inputs. What am I giving up if I use this as my program monitor instead of an HD monitor?

I wanted to upgrade to a LCD HD monitor but I can get a decent price for the Sony unit.

My edit system does give me component out.
