Maybe look at the JVC TM-H1375SU. It is a 13 inch but displays over 750 lines and of course does NTSC/PAL/4:3/16:9 and should be around the $450-$475 range. Not bad for hi-res and underscan multiformat monitor.

For a field-portable solution, see the VariZoom 16x9 LCD monitor.

VariZoom 16x9 LCD monitor???

I was also looking into the Varizoom 16X9. I was wondering if anyone had actually used this? If so what are your comments? Is it good enough to use a production monitor as well? At 7 inches I can't imagine that it is, but for $499?

Its prime advantage is portability. Of course since it's an LCD, the quality is not the same as a CRT. But you can use it to focus, frame and set colors. It's good for the money if you need a small, lightweight 16x9 monitor. If you don't mind lugging around a CRT and can afford it, then by all means do that instead.
