Siegel_Long Form_Miles To Go
Here is a Vimeo version of my entry. I don't know if the quality is much better than the UWOL version, but at least it's fast.

omigosh, total flashback...my mom had "A Field Guide to the Birds" and I did the same exact thing, sitting with the book for hours, looking at all the species. must be a formative UWOL-ish experience (well, for Americans over forty, anyway!). I had forgotten all about my childhood experiences with that book...

Yeah, those old field guides were different. Less business-like. The authors actually put something of themselves into the text. You could actually read them.

Steve,
wow, what a wonderful collection of bird footage!!! I was most impressed with the coopers hawk and peregrine footage. Accippiters are so reclusive getting them is tuff. I reckon finding a nest sight would be the best way to get that kind of footage. In the charolettes and alutians puffins arer a primary food base for peregrines. Well organized and nicely put together!! I do not really have any criticisms!! Great Job!! |
Hi Dale,
Thanks for the comments. We have had over the last few years, an influx of Cooper's Hawks in Miami during all seasons. I think the pervasive, tasty and oh so easy to catch Eurasian Collared Doves are behind it. One of our favorite local birding sites has reliable Cooper's most of the time. I just played a tape and he (she?) came right over. If only Sharpies were so cooperative. I can always tell when a Coop is in my neighborhood, because my feeder stays full of seed for days. |
