Nice capture. Looks like that 400mm lens is producing good results. I always like to view your work.

Re: Allen's Hummingbird Bathing In The Rain
Thanks Mark. The Sigma 400mm prime is a great lens for when you are at a stationary setup and don't have to move to re-frame a shot. If you continually have to move your setup, it's a real pain in you know what.

Re: Allen's Hummingbird Bathing In The Rain
I've used a Nikkor 80-400 on a GH4 via a Novoflex lens adaptor. Much better is my Sigma 150-600 Sport with or without TCs, Canon EF Mount and a Metabones "Smart" Adapter.
Very handy to zoom in and out while the Metabones (pricey!) also providing lens automation features with the new Sigma. Ron |
Re: Allen's Hummingbird Bathing In The Rain
Hello Ron,
I also have the Nikon 80-400mm 1st generation and don't use it that much unless I need the reach. Recently I did need the reach on a Least Bittern. I have looked at the Sigma 150-600mm, but I have eye surgery on the horizon, and a new lens for the eye is more important than a new lens for the camera at the moment. I uploaded a short 1080 Least Bittern video to YouTube, so take a look. The opening scene and the scene at 2:06 was shot in 4K UHD. The EDGE DETECT function on the GH4 was used for all focusing and exposure was all manual. |
