How to get the bubble level out of Bogen 3033?

Anybody got a good method for getting the old bubble level out and the new one back in?

Am I mistaken, or is it just friction holding it in?

It screws into place and just friction holds it. The challenge is getting the old one out. In my case it was easy because the old one was messed up anyway, and came out in fragments.
