Networking! And not the schmoozing kind
I'm doing my own ethernet wiring for my home office. This is a stupid newbie question, and the completely wrong forum, but, it's important, and I wouldn't leave it to anybody but you guys.
Here goes: Is there any way to uncrimp an RJ45 modular plug? |
I've wired many an edit suite and I've always just cut it off and crimped on a new one. I know it seems wastefull, but time is money when your on a job and they don't cost that much. The other thing is peace of mind, if you have problems on the network you always wonder is it the one connector you tried to use again and it's not making contact.

I agree with Jeff, put on a new one. When my studio grows I'm
going to put boxes either in the wall, on the wall or on my tables where I can put UTP cables in. That why I can just buy some short cables from the box to the computers. I can switch around without ever worrying about cable length etc. |

If you used a tool to crimp it down then probably no....but then the connectors don't cost that much anyway. If you used the ones that snap in with a lever...then it's just a matter of pulling it out. (These are more expensive but are usually dummy proof as they have color codes right on the module. |
