FS5 prices are up
It seems the earthquake in Japan in May has really pushed up the prices of the FS5 and I suspect other cameras due to the closure of a main sensor plant.
I was able to buy my FS5 in Feb with the kit lens and an extra large battery from a UK supplier for £4600. Now SLRHut (always cheaper than UK suppliers) are doing the body only for that price. I also spotted in one of the FS5 Facebook groups (there are 4 that I know of) that someone was saying it was similar in the US. Then someone else posted saying the FS5 was out of stock in many places globally. I obviously don't know how true that is, but certainly the sensor shortage has pushed up prices even if Sony has managed to reopen the plant. Perhaps not a good time to buy a camera...but maybe a good time to sell one! |
Re: FS5 prices are up
I was talking to someone about exactly this today...it might take many months before back orders are filled from what I have heard so I guess prices are bound to rise sharply for any remaining, in demand stock.
Perhaps some of the DVinfo sponsors who are dealers can chime in with a perspective? |
