PMW-300 and the BPU-60 battery
How long will a BPU-60 battery last? How many hours are you guys getting?

Re: PMW-300 and the BPU-60 battery
Less than on my old EX3. I have 3 x BPU-60s, one new the other two nearly 6-years old (plus the new small BPU-30 that came with the PMW-300).
I reckon I get 2/3, maybe 3/4 of the time on the PMW-300 compared to my old EX3 for each battery...2-3 hours max depending on the way each shoot goes. For sure I have been aware of a faster drain on batteries since I upgraded to this cam - but it is by no means excessive/a problem. I guess that might be down to the extra processing needed for 50Mbps 4.2.2 over the 35Mbs 4.2.0 on the 3? Images are lovely, so I'm happy! |
Re: PMW-300 and the BPU-60 battery
The viewfinder image monitor is bigger (and a better technology), and also the encoding/processing chip in the PMW-300 is more powerful .... hence it can support the firmware upgrade for the XAVC format and the PMW-200 can't. These two aspects could easily explain the higher usage rate.
But, hey, the images are gorgeous! Andrew PS. I haven't used the camera on a shoot yet, only receiving it a couple of days ago. A fully charged BPU-30 battery shows 92 mins on the viewfinder, FWIW. |
