B&H and EX1 for $6099

seems price are going down...
and you can get $100 off +1 8gig SxS on special rebate.

Peter Kraft December 15th, 2008 01:51 PM

Thats exactly with import duties and VAT here € 6099.

No reason to get excited yet. But the new trend is highly appreciated.

Giroud Francois December 15th, 2008 01:54 PM

Since i am located in switzerland, the VAT is 7% and not 19% as rest of europe, so it is not so important.
regular price for EX1 here in switzerland is around $8400, it is about the same price you get in euros.
add some accessories (battery, wide angle) and you better jump to NY to get it.

Paul Cronin December 15th, 2008 01:59 PM

Now lets see the PDW-700 go down.

I'd rather prefer Singapore or Tokyo. Anyone with a current price there?

Giroud Francois December 15th, 2008 03:46 PM

yes globalmediapro is rating EX1 at $5,790.00
but since this seller has very mid rating, for sure you better need to go to New-zealand by yourself.

Starting to sound like Sony has something new on the burner or why would they discount a great selling camera?

I'm sure sales are slowing with the economy the way it is. This camera has at least another 2-3 years in it. About the only thing that would really shake things up is if they changed the on-board codec to allow an intra-frame. Or if they were working on an SDHC back end.

It's possible they are working on something to compete favorably with the Panasonic HMC-150.

Paul Cronin December 15th, 2008 04:09 PM

I agree Perrone it won't go off the market too great a camera for the money but it might be tweaked. OK enough of me speculating.

Chuck Wall December 15th, 2008 04:17 PM

Hi

I was told the EX3 has dramatically slowed down EX1 sales and that there are lots of
EX1's sitting in warehouses. They are just trying to move them.

Makes sense. I wonder what woud happen if they priced it the same as the HVX200a or the HPX170...

Paul Cronin December 15th, 2008 05:19 PM

Chuck that makes sense instead of my rant.

Craig Seeman December 15th, 2008 05:23 PM

And I wouldn't be surprised if we see an EX-5 at NAB 2009 but I doubt it would be a replacement for 1 or 3. I think product development may slow given the economy (depending on how long that lasts). I don't think we'll see replacement for EX-1 until NAB 2010 and it could be even longer.

Look at how long the HVX200 was around before even a 200a hit the market.

Paul Cronin December 15th, 2008 05:40 PM

I guess this is the year I finally go to NAB in April. EX5 Hum interesting.
