Slow Motion
I'm shooting 24p and want to slow the footage down to 50 percent not 40, so I set shutter at 48, but it seems strobe like anyone have a clue why?
Thanks Mike |
Did you set it to 48 on the S&Q menu?
How's your shutter set? Try setting it to angle mode at 180° Describe the strobing, or post a small quicktime, if you can. |
Are you shooting indoors or outdoors? Fluorescent lights could cause that as well. It happens to me indoors if I shoot at 60fps. 50fps has no strobing.
|
shutter speed or frame rate? If you want to shoot 50% slow motion you need to shoot at 48 frames per second, not a 1/48 shutter speed. I'm not sure if 48 fps is an option on the EX.

48fps is an option on the EX1, but only at 720p. It's selected on the S&Q menu.
|
Sorry, just got home. I am shooting 48fps SQ mode, 720 24p, indoors. There were flourescent lights.

Fluorescents will flicker at 48 fps. at 180° (1/96 sec) shutter or no shutter (1/48 sec). Try 1/60 shutter.
|
Thanks Eric, I'll try it.

I wonder if Flicker Reduce menu setting would have impact. One might think that it's function is to reduce flicker when shooting at NTSC frame rates in PAL regions (50Hz electrical actually) and vice versa. What it's actually doing (since it's not changing the shutter speed) is a minor mystery to me. One might think it can help fluorescent light flicker.
