EX1 Low light frame grab
HQ 1080 24P 1/48 shutter; 0dB / 1.9 f-stop
6 feet from Heritage Guitar. Not much light at all. At -3dB it was even cleaner. It's strange when actually watching the -3dB video, it's so clean it looks like a still Also, note the field of view and tighter DOF with the main subject at 6 feet. If this was a 1/3" sensor camera, more of the frame would of been in focus. It kind of gives you an idea that the 1/2" sensors allow a bit tighter DOF. Remember the f-stop was wide open at 1.9. Note: For clarification, added shutter speed. http://members.cox.net/proaudio4/vlcsnap-4701.tif |
Not bad at all. Hmm.
|
That looks awesome! And BTW, the camera picture quality isn't too shabby either. Compliments from a fellow guitarist. (grin)

I second Kevin's question.

my bad 24P 1/48
|
What focal length?
|
I mentioned the Heritage guitar was 6 feet from the camera.
The focal length was about 7 to 8mm. Almost full wide. |
Okay, thanks, that's why the DOF is so deep.
|
Hmm..
Yes, BUT try this same test with a 1/3" camera and I'll bet the Strat guitar behind it on the couch is a lot more in focus. I was amazed. |
Another boring low light EX1 frame grab... LOL
EX1 low light. HQ 1080 24P/ 1/48 shutter. Gain = -3dB
A better focused shot compared to my original. http://members.cox.net/proaudio4/vlcsnap-11368.tif |
Fancy trying one with no detail enhancement? :)
Those strings are exactly the kind of thing i feel the enhancement messes up cheers paul |
hmmm.
I agree about detail off, but I sure don't see any issue with the strings in this shot. |
Steven,
Just the usual 'ringing', look at any highlight area, the gibson logo, the frets -- they all show the harsh black edging from the enhancement. Especially the highlights, look at the knobs below and the highlight to the top left edge. Lovely image though! cheers paul |
