How do you select the XLR to record instead of the built in mic?

Hello,
You have to first make sure the little slide type connector that connect the XLR mic to the main body of the camera is pushed in all the way, I have seen many times where it looks like it is in, but it is not.. then go into the menu, and make sure the XLR is not grayed out and is selected..

They should engage when the XLR block is connected on top. Also, check out the menu. Under "Tape Set", there is an "XLR Set" setting that might be useful to you.

I had everything connected properly. I just did not have the +48V switch on. Now it works fine. Thanks Shawn and Mike!
