Date for UK release?
Anyone in the UK, have a firm date yet? Sony UK originally quoted end of October, now nothing
Strange as most of europe has stock? |
Re: Date for UK release?
I spoke to two Sony sales guys and a store, in the UK, non of them have heard of the VG20, let alone know of a release date.
All units for sale in the UK are "grey" continental imports from Europe, and hugely overpriced. One US dealer offers the body at £1,010 sterling ($1,600) whilst the cheapest deal on the net here is £1,600 which is a whopping $2,530 Time to wait for the firmware/software update and the price to correct itself - if neither of these things happen, Sony are a dead duck with this camera. Re: Date for UK release?
The cheapest I found the camcorder at was ebay at 1509 Pounds, that includes the lens of course, the problem is that has to be sent from hong kong and I don't like the idea of international buying and also the customs charge around 50GBP if they don't check the package in detail but if they do well it could be something pathetic which would make it worth paying the prices in the UK to save all that hassle.

Re: Date for UK release?
geeez,
Would you pay $2,630.00 for a body only? that's at todays exchange rate. Paul :-) |
Re: Date for UK release?
To put it nicely they are con artists, Im going to purchase mine from chinaarts most likely because thats the cheapest I could find the camcorder.
I was going to get the VG10 but thats still 1300GBP for a refurbished one! so why not pay the extra 200 pounds for the VG20 |
Re: Date for UK release?
Hong Kong is a PAL region, but check the camera is a 50i version and not 60i, I don't think they do both.
I couldn't see any information regarding the region setting on Chinaarts ebay page Paul :-) |
