PC will not recognize the FX1 via Firewire!

I can't get any of my computers to recognize the FX1 now. Is there some setting that got changed on the camera for the PC to not see it when it's connected?

Thanks,

Jon

IF you are PC and useing XP do you have service pack 2 installed . If not you require this for the computer to recognise the camera

Same Problem in PP1.51 Resolved.

I thought I had a problem like that in PP1.51. I started the program, selecting the HDV 1060i format for the project.

I couldn't get the capture feature to see or download from the connected FX1. Suddenly a light came on. I had switched the convert from HD to DV by firewire feature on earlier. As a result PP1.51 was looking for HDV, but DV was all that was available. It wouldn't take that. When I turned the convert off, all went well. Is that possibly the same problem you were having.

Yes, it's a PC with SP2 and all the latest updates. I have tried it with DV convert off, no luck :(

I think it's going to go back to sony :( It's only 3 days old

Firewire cable

I do recall when I first got my FX1, I used an older firewire cable, and I never could get the camera recognized. I had just gotten another firewire cable, and when I slapped that one on, the camera was recognized immediately.

Thanks for all the help. I still can't get this to work. I am going to go and try and plug it into a MAC today to see if that will fix the problem.

I case you have managed to upset the camera settings you could try reseting to factory defaults. There is a little pin hole on the control panel of the LCD just put something small into it, to reset.

Regards

Mick.

I have reset the camera many times with no luck. I am going to send it back to where I bought it if it doesn't work with the MAC later today.

Thanks,

Jon

Well, I sent the camera back. I plugged it into 3 macs after a reset with no luck.

The iLink warning message stays on even when there is no cable connected. Even after a power off, reset, no cable connect it still warns to disconnect the cable.

I am going to order another FX1 from another vendor once I get a refund for the brand new defective one!

Thank you to all who provided technical help.

Jon
